Maria Bezuglaya

My work explores interactions between ceramics and glass and the natural beauty of the two materials, their origin and their inherent uniqueness.
I use ancient techniques such as the potter's wheel and  blown glass to create non-classical forms in order to encounter new meanings through making.
Clay, essentially being our earth, has always attracted me with its solidity, stability and constancy. It makes it possible to create precise, symmetrical shapes with rich textures and colours. But there was also a longing for something unearthly and glass became a perfect match. I associate glass with light, fluidity and movement. It perfectly imitates other substances, states of aggregation and objects. The appearance of glass encourages fantasy and offers millions of associations, which I try to preserve and multiply in my works.
